The Project

Work structure

High resolution climate projections and forecasting

Develop climate databases, multidecadal projections, and an AI-based early warning system for the Mediterranean.

Mediterranean actions

Design climate-resilient aquafeeds, phage therapies, and AI-based monitoring tools for seabass.

Delta actions

Support mussel and clam farming in deltas, address invasive blue crab threats, and develop IMTA prototypes in the Po, Ebro, and Nile deltas

Central eastern European inland waters

Improve carp, trout, and catfish farming resilience with novel feeds, IMTA systems using duckweed, and biosensors for pathogens

Northeast Atlantic actions

Enhance salmon farming with functional feeds and genetics to reduce complex gill disease and improve smolt quality

Sustainability and circularity

Assess environmental, social, and economic impacts through Life Cycle Assessment and circularity analysis

Communication, dissemination and exploitation

Maximise impact through outreach, policy briefs, and exploitation strategies

Competence and knowledge mobilisation

Offer training, webinars, and develop the Virtual ActFast Lighthouse for immersive demonstrations

ActFast is a Horizon Europe Innovation Action (Grant Agreement No. 101181159) dedicated to identifying, validating, and demonstrating climate change adaptation and mitigation solutions tailored for European aquaculture.

Our Mission

ActFast’s mission is to help European aquaculture thrive in the face of climate change. By combining climate intelligence, innovative feeds, health solutions, and circular farming systems, we empower aquafarmers to build resilient, sustainable, and low-carbon production that supports communities, protects ecosystems, and strengthens Europe’s food security

The Team

The project brings together 28 partners from across Europe and neighbouring countries to co-develop, test, and demonstrate solutions that make aquaculture more resilient, sustainable, and climate-smart.
